M&A Underwriter (France)

 

Join the market-leading French transaction insurance team and become a key player in French M&A.

We are looking for a French legal professional looking for a new challenge in their career. You will work directly with Transact’s senior underwriter and the French team to evaluate, quote, and execute Warranty and Indemnity insurance policies for French deals.

Position:

M&A underwriter (2 to 5 years of experience), full-time, French market, Amsterdam-based. Repatriation opportunities available at a later stage.

You will help expand Transact’s French M&A offering, with a key focus on the review of the transaction documentation, maintaining relationships with brokers and M&A professionals, and due diligence work.

Candidate:

We are looking for a lawyer or legal professional wanting to make the move to a more commercial and entrepreneurial environment. Some of the required skills and/or qualifications are:

  • French Master 2 in business law or corporate law or labour law and CAPA.

  • Up to five years of relevant working experience in a transactional team, preferably at an international law firm, Big 4, or similar in France.

  • Proficient in drafting legal and commercial documents, with the ability to negotiate with commercially and legally sophisticated advisors and clients.

  • No previous insurance or underwriting experience is required.

  • Strong organisational skills, with high attention to detail and quick to think on your feet.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent command of both French and English.

  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and committed team player who can challenge other team members and work collaboratively in a highly focussed and skilled work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary review point for the request to insured French based M&A transactions. This includes reviewing the information memorandum, purchase agreements and general company research.

  • Preparing a first draft insurance quote document based on the above.

  • Preparation of first draft M&A insurance policy documents.

  • Proofing and preparing first draft legal agreements (i.e. non-disclosure agreements, expense agreements etc)

  • Legal filing responsibilities.

  • Preparation of marketing and event material to be used at seminars.
